Modular beams mean safe lifting for modular house specialist

 In News

Modular spreader beams are helping to boost safety and operational flexibility for one of the UK’s biggest modular housing manufacturers.

Britlift makes excellent off the shelf spreader beams and we’ve had nothing but good feedback from clients like Rollalong

Rollalong is the largest offsite design and build contractor in the south of England, delivering a range of quality and bespoke modular buildings from houses to accommodation blocks. It provides a full turnkey service or can act as a specialist contractor for clients in the residential, defence, education and healthcare sectors.

Modular Beams Ensure Safe Lifting of Modular House

All Rollalong’s modular buildings are built at its 11.5-acre headquarters in Wimborne, Dorset and then installed on site by its expert team. On-site construction requires lifting sections by crane, so Rollalong hires in spreader beams to ensure these lifts are safety compliant as well as efficient. It uses Britlift modular spreader beams, provided by hire company Below the Hook Services.

Patrick Nolan, installation manager and lift supervisor for Rollalong, said: “Primarily I use the Britlift beams for house building, so it could be anything from a 7m to 10m spreader beam required. Most of our modular houses are comprised of four boxes, two for the ground floor and two for the first floor, meaning fairly predictable lifting operations. With the Britlift beams we know we’re lifting in a safe and controlled way.”

Rollalong prefers to hire the beams in from Below the Hook rather than own them. “Hiring gives us much more flexibility,” added Patrick. “Below the Hook take care of all the testing and transportation to and from site. It means we can fully focus on the lifting operations as they handle everything else. Fundamentally, Below the Hook makes it easier for us to do our job.”
